Rainy wedding at Cattaleya resort in Beskydy mountains

RAINY WEDDING OF LUCKA & JIRKA AT RESORT CATTALEYA

If you’re here looking for sunny wedding photos from autumn-colored Čeladná, you won’t find them. Instead, get ready for a banger — a rainy wedding full of fog, emotions, and atmosphere that no weather could ruin. This wedding at Resort Cattaleya proved that even with rain, you can have an absolutely phenomenal day.

As Lucka herself said: “We can have sunshine on a beach holiday, but our wedding, we want to enjoy no matter what.” And that’s exactly how it went. But let’s start from the beginning.

Villa Cattaleya – a wedding venue in the heart of the Beskydy Mountains

If you haven’t heard of Villa Cattaleya, it’s a popular wedding venue on the edge of the village Čeladná, surrounded by forests and hills in the heart of the Beskydy Mountains. It offers the perfect combination of nature, peace, and comfort.
It’s ideal for couples who love the atmosphere of mountain weddings but also want top-notch service and a touch of luxury.

Capacity and spaces for weddings

Resort Cattaleya Resort Cattaleya is suitable for both intimate weddings and larger celebrations of up to 110 guests.

Thanks to its smart layout, even a smaller wedding feels cozy and well-proportioned. You can spend your day on the summer terrace, dance under the open sky, or retreat into the glass rotunda.

And when the weather doesn’t cooperate — no worries. A rainy wedding here is no problem at all. The spacious restaurant comfortably fits all guests, leaving plenty of room for the dance floor and bar, and the atmosphere stays just as magical.

The resort offers 16 rooms with a capacity of 42 guests, and access to the wellness area is also included for guests.

I won’t go too deep into the local spa — although I’ve photographed there, I haven’t yet had the pleasure of enjoying it myself. But it’s definitely worth mentioning.

Lucka & Jirka’s Wedding – last wedding of 2025

This wedding in the Beskydy Mountains was the perfect grand finale to my 2025 season. I was really looking forward to it, even though I’d barely been in touch with Lucka and Jirka beforehand.

Which brings me to a thought — how much time should couples actually spend with their photographer before the wedding?

The newlyweds' first dance: the groom lifts his bride in her wedding dress, a black-and-white atmosphere full of joy and celebration at a wedding in an elegant hall.

A quick detour: How much should you meet your photographer before the wedding?

Should you spend lots of time with  the photographer to get to know each other, or is that not necessary?

For me, it depends on the couple. Some love meeting several times in person, while others are fine with a quick 30-minute online call. Not every bride and groom have the time or need to meet beforehand — and that’s perfectly okay. My goal is always to make sure everyone feels comfortable. I offer meetings to those who want them, but I never push anyone into it.

A toast before the wedding, four happy bridesmaids in black robes and the bride in white, toasting with champagne in an elegant room with wedding dresses.

What matters most is that the result is professional — whether we share a relaxed pre-wedding chat over coffee and lunch, or handle everything over the phone. On the flip side, many of my pre-wedding meetings have turned into long-term friendships.

A rainy wedding with real charm

After two short calls before the wedding, Lucka and I went through everything important — why she chose me, what mattered most to her, and what kind of results she envisioned. I knew I’d have the creative freedom I love.

Romantic wedding ceremony under a tree: gazebo with transparent chairs, floral decorations, and transparent umbrellas

And while I, like most photographers, prefer sunny days, this rainy wedding at Cattaleya was incredibly fun. The rain brought a one-of-a-kind atmosphere — fog, raindrops on the windows, and soft light filtering through the grey sky.
Instead of the usual portraits in a meadow, I could focus on moments, emotions, and authentic scenes that tell a real story.

Getting ready, party, and the champagne tower

The whole day was buzzing with energy — from the morning preparations with makeup artist Peťa Grézlová, to the evening party when Jirka jumped behind the DJ booth, and the late-night champagne tower that nearly blew my backside off :D
This wedding at Cattaleya had it all — laughter, dancing, raindrops, and the incredible energy of people who enjoyed every second of it.

Wedding celebration: newlyweds pour champagne together from a tower of glasses, romantic atmosphere with lighting and fireworks at the Cattalaya resort.

Thank you so much to everyone who planned the whole wedding—it was really worth it!
